Heritage Harbour: Annapolis Retirement Playground

I’ve lived in Anne Arundel County for 16 years, but aside from the occasional estate sale hawking authentic Tupperware straight out of the 1970’s, I hadn’t spent much time in Heritage Harbour until recently when a client asked me to locate a great retirement spot near his daughter. On the hunt, I found Heritage Harbour, hidden on a peninsula at the top of the South River and separated from Annapolis proper by the infrastructure supporting Route 50, Heritage Harbour is a booming 55+ community only about 10 minutes from everything in town, with all the on-site amenities he’ll need now and in the future.

The Details

The Heritage Harbour association includes over 1600 residences of varying sizes and price points, from basic one-bedroom apartments to modest single-family homes. Many residences are located inside other condominium organizations. This means there are often two fees, one to Heritage Harbour and one to the building you live in, but it also means tailored supervision and budgeting for each sub-community’s needs.

Residents buy into Heritage Harbour when they close on their home purchase, paying a flat fee of $2055 to join, and then pay an additional $136 per month for access.

Prime Location

In an over 55 community access to quality health care becomes a greater concern. Fortunately, the community is located about 10 minutes from Anne Arundel Medical Center and is even closer to various physical therapy and independent medical offices.

For those who like to snowbird in warmer locations Baltimore Washington International airport is only about 30 minutes away.
